Shay Hooper

Shay began skating at the age of five in Seattle, Washington, where she first developed her foundation in figure skating. After relocating to Indiana, she continued training in freestyle, dedicating years to her competitive development. In 2024, following multiple injuries, she made the pivotal decision to transition from Freestyle to Ice Dance. The switch marked a turning point in her career, allowing her to rediscover her love for skating through its performance and storytelling elements. Something unique about Shay's training format is how she trains with her coaches virtually. Working with her coaches virtually has been a blessing, but nothing compares to the in-person training when she visits Nashville each month. Outside of skating, Shay has been working as a hostess for over two years. She enjoys music of all kinds, from '70s hits to classical. She's excited to take this new journey and see what's possible for her in the Ice Dance world.
